Homeopathy in Action….

Birth is taking a journey into the unknown. Birth is raw and women need to be supported by others who are invested in a positive experience,  no matter the outcome. I have had the support of Piper attending and using homeopathy throughout the births of both my children.

At the birth of my daughter this decision was imperative in ways I could never have imagined. Her 23 hour labour culminated with an at home resuscitation attended by experienced midwives. I remember her long-awaited first cry, after Piper quickly introduced homeopathy to help with the shock to her system from this abrupt beginning into the world. I was also prescribed remedies for my bleeding which became excessive during the panic of the resuscitation. This allowed us to stay at home, mom and babe together. Piper’s skill and abilities to manage emergency situations through the use of homeopathy are invaluable. Her knowledge and experience are a true gift to all women who are lucky enough to be supported by her skill and amazing presence. Thank you Piper, for trusting in women’s bodies and the birth process.

With love,

Ashley

Homeopathic Induction

Homeopathic induction is one of the hottest topics on this blog – and for good reason.

  • It works.
  • It is safe.
  • It feels just as if you went into labour on your own.
  • You can avoid the cascade of interventions that often follow a medical induction.
  • You can induce yourself or work with a midwife that has had homeopathic training.
  • Remedies are easy to find and very affordable.

I am here for free guidance if you need it at any point in the process!

you can have it if you want it

Three ways to learn more about how to create an effective homeopathic induction:

  1. Read all the posts about induction on this blog.
  2. Purchase The Homeopathic Guide to a Vibrant Pregnancy – there is an induction section. This e-book costs 20.00.

What if the Postpartum Blues were a good thing?

What if all postpartum feelings were normal?

What if your own self is taking advantage of this gap that opens up when you have a baby?

You are vulnerable, open, aware and alive postpartum.  Doesn’t it make sense that information would be available to you in a new way?

before-alice-got-to-wonderland

Using homeopathy to offer yourself love and support postpartum means the messages will be delivered, not numbed out or pretended away.  Those messages from our own selves can be processed, felt, truly felt and then integrated.

All with a newborn by your side to assist you on keeping your focus on what is vital, alive and forward moving.

Consider this as a possibility.

The TOP Remedies to Address Fear in Labour….

There are recurring fears that come up as women prepare to open themselves to the opportunity of birth.

estatic-birth

Fear of the Pain

  • anxious about the pain from the beginning of pregnancy
  • plans to get an epidural asap
  • nightmares and panic attacks about giving birth
  • history of pain that is triggering – trauma, old surgeries or injuries
  • prone to anxiety

Aconite 1M – use as often as needed before labour, during labour and postpartum.

Fear of losing control/having a bowel movement/vomiting

  • usually these women are very fastidious, in control and on top of things
  • they typically do not like second stage of labour – the out of control pushing
  • they like things neat and tidy so will not usually give birth at home unless they find the idea of the hospital too germy
  • usually go into labour at 1:00 am

Arsenicum 200C – 2 pellets during labour or when they go into labour

Fear of tearing or being cut –

  • previous trauma history – sexual abuse or birth trauma
  • fear of needles
  • hard time speaking up for themselves, are ultra polite when they feel dominated
  • hold in all of their emotions and create infections after birth such as UTI or cesarean incision infections

Staphysagria 200C – 2 pellets during labour and following any surgical incisions from birth

Fear of something happening to the baby –

  • generally very sympathetic
  •  very aware of how everyone in the room is feeling and reactive to anything that is said or observed
  • history of bleeding nose/gums/hemorrhage during pregnancy
  • very fast labours
  • feels very in touch with the baby throughout the pregnancy

Phosphorus 1M – 2 pellets at the start of labour, repeat as needed.

Induction is a Parenting Decision

maternity 7

Due Dates are a hot topic on this blog.  I facilitate at least ten homeopathic inductions a week for women all over the world.

How to create a little space to make it your own?

  • If something doesn’t feel right – like a hard deadline for induction, ASK the questions.  Often this can open up whole new avenues to you, but you have to initiate the options, the care providers are not able to offer them to you.
  • Decide you will only work with a care provider that is brave, honest and willing to support you.  Then if that person suggests that you be induced you will be able to take that advice purely.  You have to trust the person who will catch your baby.  Trusting the people you work with would probably eliminate half the inductions going on.
  • Induction is a parenting decision.  Agreeing to or choosing induction will impact the very beginning of your life as a mother to this child.  Induction changes your birth experience and it is quite likely that it will change the immediate postpartum for you and your baby.  Gather information and check in with yourself to figure out what your opinion is on this topic.  Decide how you will navigate it, should it come into your experience.
  • The changes in immediate postpartum influence the bigger picture outcomes of vital experiences such as breastfeeding.  This is why I offer free inductions and I always will – it is a pivotal decision, with far-reaching implications.

If you would like the support of homeopathic induction which acts on not only the physical body but the mental/emotional state please feel free to contact me.

This blog has many articles about homeopathic induction, take a look and I welcome your feedback.

Aversion to your Companion?

Aversion to your husband or wife during pregnancy is a common experience.

It makes sense that a lot of things need to get worked out with a partner during pregnancy. How safe you feel with a person really gets sorted out when you have a baby.

You transform your body, your identity, your ability to work and usually your perspective on the entire world.

Can your partner keep up with this, match it and find the language to support you?

kissing-parents

Your ideas of how to be a “good” mother and life partner really also get aired out.  All the old beliefs and expectations come to the surface and you will have the opportunity to decide if they suit the current version of yourself.

Even though you won’t think you can – go OUT, exercise, have a laugh with friends.

Sleep together, take your moments when you can get them.

Get each other food and drinks, let each other sleep in.  Once in awhile let each other be alone in the house.

Allow yourself a full year to make this transition with your partner, remind yourself that you are finding your way together.  It will be necessary to do this every time you have a baby.

Try to be compassionate and gentle with yourself and your companion.   Your children will appreciate it and you will look back on the journey as an interesting time you weathered together.

An Invitation to Speak up

I was hiking today and considering what it would be like to approach the subject of vaccination in the new town I have landed in.  I was wondering how to gracefully enter into this conversation without causing fear or guilt or confusion.  The crux of the  matter is that I just wish to offer people some perspective that is not very widely shared.

Having been in private practice for 17 years and predominantly seeing babies and children has allowed me a perspective that doctors and medical people do not have.  I have had the chance to get to know these people on a mental, emotional and physical level and observe what the difference is between a vaccinated body and an unvaccinated body.  There is a difference.  I am curious if other parents and alternative practitioners would be willing to offer their perspective on this topic.

Please offer your insight and observations as the care provider, parent or health practitioner of unvaccinated children.  Put it into words.  I KNOW there are others that share my perspective and I am curious….

ENCOURAGING LABOUR

you are worth it all

I LOVE it when languages encourages and sets the tone for the situation. Women in labour need language that fits.

One of the things that I pay close attention to is the language a woman is using during her pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

It is a clear view of how she is feeling and how the thoughts in her mind are manifesting through her body.

Here are some indicators of remedies and their corresponding language:

Pulsatilla

“Help me”

“Please take it out”

“I don’t want to move, it makes me have contractions”

  • I would suggest Pulsatilla to support the woman in engaging in her own birth.
  • Pulsatilla leads the woman and reminds her of what she is capable of.

Aconite

“This is killing me”

“I am going to die!”

  • Aconite is for women that get frightened and truly believe they are about to die.
  • The remedy settles the intensity of the fear and allows the woman to be present – especially useful during transition and during precipitous births.

When to Try Homeopathic Induction

cherrio face

The best time to try a homeopathic induction is when you are due.

The main reason women go overdue is because of fear.  The remedies will bring down the intensity of the fear so that you can go into labour.  The fear may be about birth, about postpartum, becoming at mother, breastfeeding, your body, your existing family, your finances etc. etc. etc. etc.  Identifying the fear and taking a remedy to match it will be what allows you to go into labour.

These thoughts are not unrelated to what is happening or not happening in your body.

  • Attempting to take remedies and move things forward before you are due is just an exercise in frustration. Homeopathy cannot override your body like a drug, so it cannot force you or your baby into labour.
  • When you do take a remedy and it is the correct match for you,  it will work in 24 hours.  It will be just as if you have gone into labour on your own, a gradual movement towards birth, nothing overpowering or intense.
  • When I do homeopathic inductions with patients the only reason I would give a remedy before 40 weeks is if there is some indication that the woman or her baby are no longer tolerating the pregnancy.  Physical signals such as a true lack of sleep, high blood pressure or swelling are such indicators.

If you want to use homeopathy to induce labour you have a couple of options:

  • Take your constitutional remedy if you have seen a homeopath and know what your remedy is. This is always an excellent starting point.
  • Buy my e-book(s)The Homeopathic Guide to a Vibrant Pregnancy and Birth Kit Essentials –  available on my website – http://www.pipermartin.com – they deal specifically with remedies for induction.
  • I do homeopathic inductions for free via the phone, in person or skype.  Please contact me if you need additional support.  This is something I feel strongly that all women should have access to!
