Remedies to Heal from Circumcision

I know that some babies experience circumcision and I want to suggest a few remedies that can ease pain and speed the healing process.  I would suggest nursing the baby ASAP after the procedure, for emotional comfort, the healing dimensions of breast milk and pain relief.

In addition to breast milk I suggest that you tell the baby what is happening both before and after the surgery.  For the mothers, please make sure this is a choice you and your partner have made together.

circum

Remedies that are specifically indicated for healing this type of delicate tissue:

100 AWESOME People… the beginning

ImageI have been pretty consumed with putting into motion the nine incredible groups that have gathered.  We have all met once and have begun our second round and I can only speak for myself when I reflect on what has rippled out from those provoking and stimulating meetings.

  • a desire to remember who we really are – who we know ourselves to be, either from childhood memories or parts of ourselves that feel just right.  Acknowledging that awareness out loud is bringing more solidity to it and also a level of accountability because once you know something and admit it out loud AND it is witnessed – you can never go back.
  • understanding that we have come together in perfect, fitting, matching groups.  I love watching people have the conversations that they have been longing for.
  • momentum !! a  huge reason why working in a group is so wonderful, the collective energy of working with a group of like minded people is exciting, fresh and inspiring.

I have begun the registrations for the new session which begins in April, if you are interested please contact me early as I am anticipating many, many people becoming addicted to these gatherings and open spots may be hard to come by.

The Homeopathic Guide to a Vibrant Pregnancy – E- Book Excerpt

The Homeopathic Guide to a Vibrant Pregnancy
excerpt
Chapter Two : Remedies for Your Birth
Image

Remedies Commonly Used For Homeopathic Induction
“I do many homeopathic inductions each week. It is very possible to induce labour
safely with homeopathy. Using a remedy to initiate labour will be as if you started
labour naturally on your own.
This chapter contains some descriptions of remedy states, choose a remedy that
most closely matches the symptoms you are experiencing at the present time. These
are remedy pictures that I see most frequently in practice. If nothing seems to fit I
encourage you to seek professional homeopathic care to find your remedy match.
Dosage and Frequency
Take two pellets of the most indicated remedy and wait 24 hours. If there is going to
be a shift it will begin within that time.
You cannot induce labour before you are due. Wait until your due date to try a
remedy.

Pulsatilla
Pulsatilla is a remedy that comes up frequently during pregnancy. It has a special affinity
for the female reproduction organs and hormonal system. Pulsatilla is a state which
creates feelings of uncertainty and a gradual understanding that there is level of
commitment needed to create and give birth to a baby.
During labour, Pulsatilla women often take a few days of false labour before committing
to engaging in the contractions and allowing the process of birth to happen. The dilemma
for a Pulsatilla woman is facing the challenge of engaging or escaping. Once that decision
has been made she will work smoothly through labour.
Fears
The central fear for women in a Pulsatilla state is being abandoned. This
fear may be aggravated by the following situations:
• Her husband at work when she needs him
• Her midwife going on vacation or even off call
• Her mother unable to be by her side
• Impending separation of her other children when she has to go to the hospital.
In order to ensure that she feels cared for a Pulsatilla woman will be soft and
accommodating to the suggestions of others and suppress her own feelings and desires in
order to be liked and supported.
Fear that the baby will be harmed in some manner during the birth – feels generally
unwilling to take responsibility for making her own choices, usually prefers to ask the
opinions of others and follow their guidance.
This is a big part of the reason she needs all those other people to be present – should she
need advice or guidance. There is a lot of uncertainty in a Pulsatilla state.
Remedy Picture
• Baby may have been in a breech position at one point during the
pregnancy or moved into many different positions, as if she/he
could not make up their mind.”

Homeopathic REMINDERS

Remember who you are.  Do something every day that puts you into that state of mind.

The place of feeling like – yes! this is exactly what I need and want to be doing in this world!

The more you practice this the stronger that feeling grows.  When this becomes your predominate feeling then you will no longer be able to accept being, doing or acting in ways that are not real you.  These are real steps towards happiness.  Homeopathy is  a way to remind yourself of this course of action.  It will keep you accountable and on track.

The Basics – Homeopathy and your Newborn Babe

Homeopathy is safe for babies.

Use homeopathy to help your baby make a smooth transition.  Remedies can assist with:

  • traumatic births – forceps, vacuum and c-sections all have an effect on the baby.  Simple remedies like Arnica and Aconite are incredibly effective for soothing head trauma, bruising, shock and fear.
  • breastfeeding challenges – homeopathy will address milk flow issues, mastitis, latching difficulties and failure to thrive in babes.
  • skin ailments – use homeopathy to ease the way through diaper rashes, eczema and cradle cap.
  • discharge from the eyes – breast milk is the most amazing medicine you have right at hand for this – but if you need a little extra support then homeopathy works beautifully to help babies move mucus from their eyes, out through their nose.

Using homeopathy from the beginning keeps your baby clear on how capable their bodies are.  Babies respond quickly and easily to homeopathic remedies, they are easy to administer and it is magical to watch the effect.  There are no side effects and you can feel good about addressing not only physical aspects of your babe but supporting them mentally/emotionally from the start.

The MOTHER of all Eating Issues

breastfeeding

This week on the Whole Woman I will be discussing The Mother of All Eating issues – Lac Humanum – a homeopathic remedy made from breast milk.  This food is the thing that unites us all as humans, connects us to the earth and invites us into our bodies.  How do we maintain this instinctual movement towards food that both nourishes us physically but also makes us feel happy, alive and vital?  How do we nourish ourselves as mothers to provide this for our children?  Food goes way beyond the physical aspects of what we eat and how much we gain, food is about love, connection and nurturing.  We are all capable of this communication with our own bodies – what if we considered teaching this way of being to our children?  Lac Humanum is a remedy I use often for addictions – to food, drugs, alcohol, TV – we are always searching to return to that feeling of bliss – what if it came through a real practice of self-love? The Whole Woman – is recorded live on Thursdays at High Noon – http://www.VoiceAmerica.com .  You can sign up to receive podcasts via my website at http://www.pipermartin.com.

Homeopathic Remedies for Grief during Pregnancy

Grief
Image via Wikipedia

Homeopathy is an excellent way to support the process of grief.  It allows you to consider the how and why the experience affects you and facilitates the expression of that grief through your body.  This means that when the process is over – at the pace that is appropriate for the individual person – it has been cleared from your body.  Clearing intense trauma and emotion from our bodies on a physical level means it has been integrated into our beings and we can move forward with out being constantly triggered back into the same intensity as the original grief.

While you are pregnant, you and the baby are emotionally connected.  You are both highly aware of the others emotions.  It is in your best interest and the interest of your baby to work through strong emotions such as grief using homeopathy to facilitate the process.  You will definitely work through it together but there will be comfort in that.  It is possible at any time to work through emotional situations together with your children, I love treating whole families so I can understand how all the dynamics flow together.  For more information on using homeopathy during pregnancy, labour and postpartum please visit my website – www.pipermartin.com

Homeopathy for Broken Water – No Contractions

Gelsemium
Image via Wikipedia

One of the most common scenarios for induction of labour is when a woman has ruptured membranes (bag of water is broken) and yet she is not experiencing contractions.

To maintain a healthy environment for the baby be conscious of drinking at least 1 cup of water per hour while you are in labour – especially if your water has broken.

Use homeopathic remedies to induce contractions because once your membranes have ruptured  – one way or another it is time to have your baby.

Pulsatilla 200C

This is a remedy to use when a woman is frightened of labour and does not want to engage.  She wants to go to bed instead of walking around to bring on contractions, she wants a lot of comfort – stoking, reassurances of safety, a physical presence from her midwives etc.  The contractions may be very changeable – they start and stop, are felt in the front and back, are a wide variety of length from start to finish.  Two pellets of Pulsatilla 200C will create a rhythm to the labour and allow her to mentally engage with the process of birth.

Cimicifuga and Caulophyllum 30C

These remedies are widely used to induce labour but they really work best if there is already some level of contractions happening.  They will create an effectiveness to the contractions, making them productive and with purpose.

Gelsemium 200C

Gelsemium is a great remedy for a labour in which the woman feels performance anxiety.  If she feels like she is just too tired to engage, feels heavy, exhausted and anxious about what is going to happen Gelsemium will help her find her way back to the work of labour.  This is an anticipatory anxiety feeling of dread.

Panic Attacks during Labour

Aconite

So guess what?  There is a homeopathic remedy you can take if you are having a panic attack in labour.  It is called Aconite 1M.  Two pellets  will chill you out and allow you to take a breath.  Aconite is for :

  • rapid labours with little break between contractions
  • fear of the pain – this can be from the onset of labour all the way through transition
  • transition – BEST time to use Aconite
  • for fathers, grandparents or any other freaked out people at the birth
  • babies that have a frightening birth
  • mothers that are shaken after the birth experience

Aconite will ground you and allow you to just be in each contraction as it comes – you can repeat the dose of two pellets as often as you need it  – the beauty of homeopathy means – NO SIDE EFFECTS and NO DANGER  to mothers or babies.

Feeling safe and breathing will allow both you and your baby to be present and have a more peaceful birth experience.

For the full description on using Aconite in labour please visit my website at www.pipermartin.com and my e-book – The Homeopathic Guide to a Vibrant Pregnancy – available on the site.
