Midwives offer support in so many, many ways and one simple thing they can offer you is freedom of movement and position. Moving is a way of encouraging and participating in labour. Midwives will accommodate your choice of birthing position. They will be on the floor, behind you, in front or beside – wherever you need them to be. I had my fabulous midwife, Edie Posca, RM squished between me, my bed and a large wardrobe!
This simple way of supporting makes a quite a large difference when you are in a position that is working for you, but not necessarily comfortable for your care provider. Pushing out a babe in the position that your body has guided you to be in is important. It is one more reason why you need to seek midwifery care.
